Fiji Cruise Itinerary

We hope you’ll join us for the Fiji Cruise trip of a lifetime, during which you’ll visit remote beaches, snorkel over incredible reefs, kayak to local villages, and experience the most breathtaking locations across Northern Fiji. The Tui Tai Adventure Cruise takes guests to places they never imagined, the natural beauty of Fiji, and the kindness and warmth of the Fijian people.

The following is our award winning 5-night Adventure Cruise itinerary describing the approximate times for activities and other events during the trip. Keep in mind that the itinerary is flexible due to weather and other conditions – such is life in Fiji!

"I’ve been fortunate to visit many amazing destinations around the globe during my career, including more than 60 weeks in the Fiji Islands. Tui Tai Adventure Cruises is among the most exciting and enlightening voyages I’ve experienced. The unique combination of adventure activities, spectacular and remote locations, cultural experiences, great food, and fantastic staff are a true credit to all involved."
- Chris McLennan, acclaimed travel photographer

ADVENTURE CRUISE ITINERARY
“MAY YOUR MEMORIES LIVE UP TO YOUR DREAMS”

The adventure cruise itinerary is an evolving dream of the best activities, the best islands, the best dive/snorkel sites, and the greatest people we have ever come across. We like to use the word "evolving" because the itinerary seems to change on its own, always for the better. Some spontaneous event one day will cause a change to the current itinerary and result in some new discovery that makes for a big enhancement in the adventure experience.

This itinerary has evolved from a vision we had as we chartered our first ship and explored some of Fiji’s most remote islands. Over the years, we have been able to explore nearly all of the Fiji’s island regions. In doing so, we have dreamt up an itinerary that represents the best adventure experience we could dream of.

During our honeymoon, we were exploring some of the islands that you may visit during the adventure cruise. On one remote island, we met a wise man who shared some of his wisdom: “May your memories live up to your dreams,” he told us. This pearl of wisdom has since become a source of inspiration for us and we fondly pass it along to you. In its ever-changing form, carefully optimized to spontaneity, the adventure cruise itinerary has carefully been designed so that your dreams can be converted into memories.

Vinaka and best regards!
- Tige and Morika Young, owners/founders Tui Tai Adventure Cruises

This is an example itinerary describing some of the islands and activities we like to do. Many activities arise spontaneously due to a sudden invitation from villagers, dolphins or whales swimming by, or the discovery of a new dive site. Keep in mind that the itinerary is flexible due to weather and other conditions – such is life in Fiji!

Monday: Natewa Bay, Vanua Levu
Welcome to the Tui Tai, the premier adventure experience in the South Pacific. A scenic 40-minute transfer by air-conditioned coach will take you from Savusavu to a remote settlement on Natewa Bay.

Upon boarding and checking in to your stateroom or cabin, you can enjoy a snack and a complimentary foot massage from our onboard spa therapist. Then it’s time to get wet. The morning snorkeling and dive trips feature a chance to see a resident pod of spinner dolphins (sometimes we even jump in and swim with them!).

After lunch onboard it’s time for sea kayaking. After a brief introduction to sea kayaking safety, we’ll paddle along the protected coastline of Natewa Bay (the 2nd largest bay in the Southern Hemisphere). Natewa Bay is a magical quiet location with no signs of development or other visitors. The coastline varies from white sandy beaches to black volcanic cliffs and even a few stretches of mangroves. Tui Tai will set sail around 5pm as the sun sets behind us.

Activities: Guided Snorkeling “Pipedream,” Dolphin Viewing, Sea Kayak “Natewa Bay Coastline”
Scuba Diving (1): “Natewa Nuggets ”

Morning Tea: Tui Tai Adventure Bars – Energy Bars full of Chocolate and Seeds
Lunch: Gourmet BBQ Burger Lunch with Oven Baked Wedges and Garden Fresh Salad
Afternoon Tea: Fresh Coconut Milk Scones
Dinner:  Mongolian BBQ Night
Dessert: Grilled Papaya with Chilli Lime Syrup

Tuesday: Kioa Island
Welcome to the island of Kioa, the only island in Fiji whose people are Polynesian. Originally from the island nation of Tuvalu, the Kioans are masters of handicrafts and fishing. Kioan fisherman may wave to us as they paddle out to sea in their traditionally built outrigger canoes. Around midday we will visit the village and learn from one of their elders the tale of how these people came to live in Fiji.

This is a great day to get wet! Both the snorkeling and scuba diving sites are considered the best in all of Fiji. Divers will explore the renowned “Rainbow Reef” region of dive sites, lying within the Somosomo Straits. Snorkelers will visit prolific, healthy gardens of coral at “The Farm” and “Nakawa Point.” This is a great chance for non-divers to try a “Discover Scuba Dive” with our Dive Instructor.

In the afternoon we’ll explore the Tunuloa Peninsula and Vanua Levu on mountain bikes. You can expect to meet a few people from villages we pass by (and usually a few kids waving and yelling “BULA!). Bird lovers may spot the rare and beautiful Silktail. This small, black bird is endemic to the islands of Taveuni and Vanua Levu, but has recently become classified as a “Near Threatened” species.

Activities: Guided Snorkeling “The Farm,” Mountain Biking “Buca Bay Coastal Trail,” Polynesian Village Visit “Salia Village”
Scuba Diving (4): “Great White Wall (weather and tide permitting),” “Rainbow Passage,” “Black Magic,” “Black Magic (Night Dive)

Evil Jungle Prince (Tropical Vegetables in a lemongrass and red pepper sauce)
Brown Rice and Watercress Salad
Dessert: Chocolate Mousse

Wednesday: Taveuni Island
Welcome to Taveuni, the “Garden Island of Fiji.” Prepare for lush rainforests and gushing waterfalls as we visit the Bouma National Heritage Park. One of Fiji’s best conservation and Ecotourism success stories, the National Heritage Park includes 3 sets of waterfalls where we can relax and swim.

After breakfast we will set out on mountain bikes along Bouma Road. The ride is approximately 45-minutes and includes several hills, making it moderately strenuous. We’ll pass several villages along the way (remember to smile, wave and say “Bula!”). Guests can opt to take a van transfer to the park instead of biking.

Once we reach the park, the first set of waterfalls are a short 10-minute walk along a nice trail. The waterfalls have a huge pool for swimming, making it an ideal place to relax, enjoy a massage right in front of the pounding waterfalls!

In the afternoon, we have a short sail to the island of Qamea. We will visit Togo Village for a tour and Melanesian cultural performance.

Activities: Mountain Biking “Bouma Road,” Hiking “Bouma National Heritage Park” and the “Tavoro Waterfalls,” Melanesian Village Visit “Togo Village”
Scuba Diving (3): “Purple Wall,” “Seven Bommies,” "Black Rock"

Breakfast: Bele filled Grilled Tomato with Crispy Bacon

Potato Salad and Fresh Fruit.

Dessert:  Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce

Thursday, Cobia Island, Ringgolds
Far away from any of Fiji’s main islands lies a scattering of 7 tiny atolls. Known as the Ringgold Isles, these small islands are surrounded by a barrier reef that drops into the deep blue sea. Within the reef is a magnificent lagoon, teeming with life and blue-turquoise colors.

We will spend most of our day near the island of Cobia. The island is a sunken volcanic crater, the inside of which has filled and formed a mystic lagoon. In the morning we will hike to the summit. The trail is an interesting terrain of natural steps formed by large tree roots. The island is home to a handful of wild goats and a dense population of fruit bats.

In the afternoon, we will explore the crater from sea level on a kayak. Many guests describe the feeling of floating around the inside of the crater as sublime; with a mix of history, geologic power and a bit of supernatural superstition. The crater edges drop steeply from the summit down to the sea level and the actual coast varies from mangrove to black rock.

Throughout the day there are excellent opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving. This location generally has the most crystal clear waters of any location on our itinerary. As the islands are small and positioned in the middle of the deep sea, the visibility can easily exceed 120 feet (36 meters).

We’ll eat lunch on one of the best beaches in the world (and yet no one but us to enjoy it!). There are 4 beaches on Cobia Island, several nice spots to walk around or enjoy a massage under a tree or immersed in the calm, lapping seas.

Activities: Hiking “Cobia Crater Summit,” Guided Snorkeling “True Blue,” Sea Kayaking “Cobia Crater and Ringgold Atolls”
Scuba Diving (3): “Kokoda Point,” “Wall Street,” “Eel Diamond”

Breakfast: Char Grilled Vegetable Frittata with Smoked Walu
Morning Tea: Ginger Crunch Shortcake
Lunch: Gourmet Pizza Lunch with Green Salad and Mediterranean Salad of Tomato and Cucumber
Afternoon Tea: Tui Tai Peanut Butter Cookies
Dinner: Rourou Soup, Balsamic and Ginger Beef, Lemon Couscous, with Garlic Sauteed Long Beans
Dessert: Upside-down Toffee and Banana Cake

Friday, Rabi Island
Rabi Island is another of Northern Fiji’s hidden treasures, rich in history and natural beauty. It is now inhabited by Micronesian people. Originally from equatorial islands of Kiribati, these people bought the island of Rabi using money obtained shortly after World War II. In the afternoon, you will meet these people, hear their stories and experience their culture. Micronesians are famous for their elaborate and powerful dances.

Just after breakfast, we'll set out snorkeling in "Dolphin Bay," so named due to a resident pod of spinner dolphins who are there to greet us nearly every week.
From the village settlement of Tabiang, we will set out on mountain bikes for a scenic ride along a dirt road. The ride includes a beautiful view of the Tunuloa Peninsula and the mouth of Natewa Bay.

In the afternoon we settle in to one of the best white sand beaches in all of Fiji. Enjoy great snorkeling right from the beach, explore the tranquility of Albert Cove by sea kayak, or relax and get ready for the beach volleyball challenge! Our final dinner will be served on this beach in true Pacific Islander
style. Watch as the underground oven is created by the crew and chefs.

Activities: Guided Snorkeling/Dolphin Watching “Dolphin Bay,” Micronesian Dance Performance, Mountain Biking “Tabiang to Nuku”
Scuba Diving (3): “Kesteven’s Corner,” “Yellowstone,” “Purple Haze”

Breakfast: Pacific Vegetable Hash with Ham and Eggs
Morning Tea: Chocolate Chip Cookies
Lunch: Indian Curry Lunch with Beef Curry, Pumpkin Curry, Rice, Chutneys and Pappadums
Afternoon Tea: Cinnamon Sugared Lolo Balls
Dinner: Fresh Tomato and Coriander Soup, Lovo Baked Chicken, Pork and Fish, Palusami, Cassava Smash and Grilled Tropical Vegetables
Dessert: Passionfruit Cheesecake in a glass with Crunchy Ginger Cookies

Saturday, Savusavu
Sadly, it is time to say goodbye. A few words from the farewell song “…i levu tu na ua…mai na Tui Tai, nanuma tiko ga.” This means “soon you’ll be sailing far across the sea; but please sometime just try and remember us and remember the Tui Tai.”

Your transfer will pick you up after breakfast and transfer you to the Savusavu airport or your next resort destination.
Vinaka vakalevu and ni sa moce!

Activities: Singing of the farewell song “Isa Lei”
Breakfast: Vanilla French Toast with Glazed Pineapple and Kumquat or Maple Syrup.
